I'm not ashamed to say it...I'll admit it.
Maddie has more guts than me.
Now granted, she's been on a jet ski a lot more often than I have, that is true.
But I'm not exactly a fan of speed, at least... I'm not if I'm the one who's in control of it.
I like it when James drives the boat really fast, as long as I don't have to drive it really fast.
But Maddie is another story.
It's safe to say that the person whose jet ski we used is also a speedster.
(this would explain her use of the phrase, "dump the chump")
ha ha....errr.....whaa?
As I reflect on this picture, I can seen now what I couldn't see at the time, which is Maddie already gearing herself up for a wild ride.
It reminds me of a few years ago, when we decided Maddie was old enough to graduate from the bunny hill to the mountain. I was all nervous for her to go on the ski lift and James made sure he was wearing the harness so he was connected to her at a safe length so she didn't get away from us going down the mountain....yeah. That lasted about 2 times. I can still hear her as she hollered over her shoulder, "Dad! You're slowin' me down!"
And....that was it for the harness.
(I should have recalled that incident before I decided to get on a jet ski with her.)
And before I knew it, there it was.
sheesh!

Instead of "Dad, you're slowin' me down" she says,
"Mom, let me drive!"
sheesh!
Hannah tried water skiing for the first time.
She's another one who's got nerves of steel.
I wonder if I will be able to get up on skis again after so many years?
Yay for friends that come for the day and visit us!!
Molly, Anissa and Emily
The Lakewood Zoo was fun...interesting....small town-ish but with a surprising collection of exotic animals.
While at the beach the next day,
Andrew once again attracts a gaggle of little kids to play ball.
This is actually a phenomenon.
I'll blog about that another time, but just know this, Andrew is like the Pied Piper.
This picture makes me howl everytime.
You have to click on it so you can see their expressions.
Maddie's saying...."hurry up and take the picture, I'm sliding down the airplane!"
LOL
The girls getting ready for work after a day at the lake.
This is what Hannah buys with her paycheck.
She ran off to the gift shop as soon as she got back to the camper from working all evening.
She walks back up to the site with an enormous ice cream cone, and a bag full of ice cream treats for everyone else.
What a sweetheart.
